War is something that is happening for a very long time for the past thousands of years. War is something that nobody will want because it takes away peace. But, how has war evolved from the past to the present? War still have its characteristic today--violence and killing. Everyone knows that war is about killing and taking away lives from innocent people.
The major difference between wars in the past and in the present is the weapons used. War is gradually evolving. In the past, very long ago, war were being fought with swords and arrows. However, guns were introduced into the battlefield by the Europeans. Then, cannons were invented. More and more weapons were being invented. In the present, when technology were more advanced, bombs and even powerful guns were invented such as the machine gun and the sub-machine gun. With these powerful weapons evolved, the violence in war has also increase. There will be cases where a bomb will kill innocent people.
Thus, I can conclude that war has evolved through the weapons used and the increase of violence and killing.

ReplyDeleteDear Darryl,
ReplyDeleteI am Jerome. I agree with you on the weapons used, which wars are now more dangerous. Weapons are indeed more deadly than before, killing many people and taking away their lives due to the advance in technology.
But on the last paragraph where war has evolved through the weapons used and the increase of violence and killing, I partially disagree with you, perhaps because of the way you put it. There is an increase in violence and killing, that is true, but it is caused by the weapons used. So it should be "war has become more deadly due to the use of weapons."
Overall good blog prompt but with a bit of mistake.

ReplyDeleteI agree that the weapons used in war have evolved from the past to the present. Their deadliness has increased exponentially. In contrast with the past, the developed nations tend to avoid war at all cost for fear of self-annihilation. Besides that, in today’s war, there are three parties, two of which are the parties in conflict, while the third party is the world audience, especially the militarily stronger nations that could affect the outcome of the war. Even the terrain on which wars are fought have evolved to include the cyber world too. The world is more connected now and anyone is capable of attacking anywhere on the planet literally. No one else is really safe.
Perhaps you should also consider the non-physical actors that have changed from the past to the present, such as the use of tactics and strategy.
